Over the years, I have found it beneficial to be involved in various associations throughout the trucking industry. The future of our business depends on each one of us doing our part to lobby for different regulations which affect the profitability of our companies. I belong to a particular association called the “California Construction Trucking Association.” (CCTA) One might ask… why would a dry van carrier have a membership with a construction truck association from California? The reason I belong to this trade organization is because the state of California is where many laws and regulations begin which affect the trucking industry. I feel it’s important to have a voice when it comes to legislative issues. The Western Trucking Alliance is the interstate conference within the CCTA. This particular conference reaches out to interstate carriers. Within the CCTA, you will find several conferences which include: heavy-haul, concrete pumpers, interstate trucking and the water truck conference. Being a member of North Carolina, I like to say that I’m the “Eastern Seat of the Western Truck Alliance.” The CCTA assists the owner operator to large fleet owner to stay informed on state and federal regulations. The organization offers a pro-active legislation agenda, full time political lobbying, various legislative support and transportation counseling. You can learn more about this association by going to www.calcontrk.org/western .

I've heard Joe on Road Dog radio and I appreciate his organization standing up to the over zealous regulators there in California.
