Destination : Churchill Downs

With the month of March upon us, I am once again looking forward to attending this year’s Mid America Truck Show in Louisville, Kentucky. The Trucking Solutions Group is planning a “MATS Driver Health Awareness Walk.” Last year’s event was very successful and we want to invite you to join us again this year to make this year’s walk an even bigger success.

We will assemble at 6:00 pm EST on March 27th at the Papa John’s Parking lot near the OOIDA stage and the TA/Petro shower trailer. Our walk will begin at 6:30pm.

This year’s walk destination is Churchill Downs to see the statue of Barbaro. We will then head back to Papa John’s. This is approximately a one mile walk round trip. Sidewalks are available and may get narrow for about a block. Also, throughout our walk, we will be crossing a couple of intersections.

We never know who might show up on the walk as in the past we’ve had many industry professionals to join us. Last year, (FMCSA) Administrator Anne Ferro surprised us and joined in on the walk.

Henry Albert is the owner of Albert Transport, Inc., based in Statesville, NC. Before participating in the "Slice of Life" program, Albert drove a 2001 Freightliner Century Class S/T™, and will use his Cascadia for general freight and a dry van trailer. Albert, who has been a trucker since 1983, was recognized by Overdrive as its 2007 Trucker of the Year.
