It was one of those weeks where nothing clicked. My schedule usually gets me home sometime on Friday morning. My Wednesday unload in Maple Heights, OH was scheduled for 10:00 am. I requested an earlier appointment, but didn't get one. It was close to noon by the time I got unloaded. Oh well, at least I would miss Chicago's rush hour. By the time I cleared Chicago and hit the Wisconsin border, I still had over 2.5 hours left to drive, but was tired. It was only 21:00, but on this night I was just too tired to drive. They wanted my trailer dropped in Oconomowoc, WI by 07:30 on Friday. I decided to take an 8/2 split break. That would allow to make my delivery on time and if all went well take my 2 hour break in Fon Du Lac.

It was a good plan. They are all good on paper. There is a Love's in Fon Du Lac. The Wild Goose Trail is less than a quarter mile away. I could get my run in on the trail and then take a shower at the Love's. Welcome to Trucking. The plan fell about 10 minutes short. The Love's is at exit 97. When coming out of Oconomowoc heading back towards Green Bay, I like to run up WI 67. It is shorter than the interstate and a lot more pleasant to drive. Unfortunately the trip from Russell, IL to Oconomowoc took a little longer than I counted on. By the time I reached Lomira, 12 miles short of my goal, my drive time was down to 8 minutes – DANG!

The back up plan was to stop in Lomira, have breakfast at Bublitz's and then take a long walk. Lomira is a smaller town. The population is 2409. I asked the waitress if it was OK to leave my truck parked there and take a walk. She approved. Lomira has this great invention called sidewalks. It was Veterans' Day and many of the houses had their flags out. I enjoy my 3-4 mile walks in small towns like Lomira. They seem to put my mind right.

The week was filled with disappointments. They weren't earth shattering life effecting disappointments. Just little things that don't change my life. The combination of a lot of little things just sort of piled up and were effecting my mood. Walking in Lomira did not fix any of those things. The walk just changed the way I felt about them. On the whole none of them were that important to me.

Lomira is located at the intersection of Wisconsin 67 and Interstate 41 (exit 85). There are 4 places to park your truck. While many small towns have shunned truck parking, Lomira always has had room for me. Consider stopping there for your 10 hour break or your 30 minute break. Bublitz's has great food, but the Mc Donald's next door also has parking. This time that 2 hour break was just what I needed to lose myself.
