Ingress is a worldwide game and was started in a Beta Version November of 2012 and was released to the public on an I-Phone in 2014.  There is a lot of background to the game and there are only two sides. Resistance represented by the blue color and Enlightened represented by the green color.

There are a lot of twists and turns to the game that I am still learning.  What amazed me when I first downloaded the game is how extensive the portals locations are.  We have not found a rest area that does not have a portal, nor have we found many truck stops that do not have portals within walking distance of them.  What often happens is I start out towards one portal and realize there is another one within walking distance and before long I have walked more steps then I have set as my goal for the day.

First I downloaded the game to my phone, then opened the game and saw blue, green, or white glowing blobs representing portals.  Learning how to get closer to the portals is also a trick, if you click on the portal you will be shown a picture of what you are looking for.  For me blue is friendly and green is something I want to conquer.  White is an unclaimed portal and I will deploy mods and resonators so that I will become the owner.

When I get to a portal I have two choices depending on the color.  If blue I will click on portal and that takes me to another screen where I have more choices.  First I will hold the Hack button down with my finger and another screen comes up.  This is called Glyph Hacking and is considered another mini game to get more stuff...  Glyph Hacking is tough and requires memorizing a series of patterns and repeating them following dots.

After I Glyph Hack I check the mods and if a friendly portal I will recharge or if it is not a friendly portal I check to see if I am strong enough to take the portal for the blue side.  Also when I am able to claim portals that are close together I can link them to give me more points and help the blue side.

Since I have only been playing Ingress for a few months I am still learning about the game and I still have a lot to learn.  I have learned the most from reading about the game and also talking to others that are playing the game. What I like is that it gets me out to walk and I have found some pretty cool sites I never would have seen without Ingress.  The game also works on using your mind and memorizing charts and being able to reproduce them quickly.

It gives you another reason to get out of the truck and then you find the first portal and realize there is another portal withing walking distance and off you go to the next one and so and so on. We discovered all of a small town in Montana doing this that we would not have seen.

Anything that encourages you to move. So, this game is cool. If it makes you stop, not good. runners will play, like kids. Race to a tree, then rest. Then race to a sandbox, etc. interesting concept as long as you spend more time walking, than looking at your phone.
