Wrapping up the 2014 Driver Wellness Tour is the stop this coming week at the TravelCenters of America (TA) Ontario West location in Ontario, California. I am excited to be able to attend this function with Bob Perry “The Trucker Trainer” and all the great CDL Wellness Coaches over at Rolling Strong. There will be plenty of great demos going on with products such as the Freightliner In-Cab Fitness System (FIT System) and the infamous “Big Rigger Fitness Challenge” sponsored by Michelin. Come see if you can out bench-press Bob Perry in a Michelin tire bench-press challenge and compete for your chance to take home your own FIT system and Big-Rigger Challenge T-shirt!
Drivers in attendance at this event will also have the opportunity to check important health levels within their own body such as their blood pressure, weight, and BMI. Rolling Strong Wellness Coaches will also be on-hand leading workout session you can participate in. Also, representatives from the Truckers Rolling Against Hepatitis C campaign will also be on site providing healthcare education about HCV and testing drivers at no cost. Drivers will be offered testing with OraSure’s OraQuick® HCV Rapid Test, the first and only rapid HCV test approved by the FDA that provides lab accurate results with a finger stick blood sample in just 20 minutes.
With driver health being at the forefront of trucking topics these days, this event can offer a little bit of something for everyone. There is no greater feeling than knowing you are keeping your body in top working condition. Your health is the greatest tool in your arsenal because without it, your wheels are not going to roll anywhere! I urge anyone that is going to be in the area with a few extra minutes to come on by to check out what we are doing to try and help motivate and encourage a healthier lifestyle for those making a living behind the wheel.
