Last week, I had the pleasure to represent Team Run Smart and Freightliner at the Kenly 95 Petro at their annual East Coast Trucker's Jamboree. I brought the camouflage 2018 New Cascadia to display and boy was it a head-turner! The camouflage did not work as this truck stuck out even amongst the show trucks. See the drone shot below.
If you haven't been to the Kenly Petro ever or in a long while; firstly it's off of exit 106 on Interstate 95 in North Carolina. There's not much along this stretch of interstate and exit 106 is aptly named "Truckstop Road." This is definitely an oasis for weary truckers and travelers between New York and Florida. The truck stop is part of the Iowa 80 Group of truckstops which are the biggest in the country. They have other truck stops in Walcott, Iowa, Oak Grove and Joplin, Missouri.
The Kenly Petro just had their grand opening on their expanded remodel which includes their 'Super Truck Showroom." If there's something a trucker wants or needs - they have it. If you're hungry, they have many choices in their food court. They have Wendy's, Caribou Coffee, Subway, Dairy Queen, Taco Bell, Pizza Hut Express and Iron Skillet. If you can't be home during a layover, this is probably the next best place as they're always open 24/7/365.
It was nice meeting so many truckers during the jamboree. This event really allowed me to talk to the drivers as they're passing through. Most of the professional drivers I spoke with hadn't seen the New Cascadia yet and those who had, just caught a glimpse of one going down the interstate. They all enjoyed getting a chance to see one up close and actually get in the driver's seat. The improved dash and electronic guages were very popular as well as the work station option that I had on display. From the outside, the newly designed hood and headlights, combined with the optional Aero-X package was all the rage. It was unanimous: the new design was a hit.
