One of my favorite views as a youth still serves me and my business well. |
This evening, I found myself sitting on my back deck enjoying the sound of the crickets and frogs while staring up at the nighttime stars. The stars were shining brightly into the dark evening sky. The wind had died down for the day and the trees had a peaceful silhouette as the moonlight illuminated down upon them. Tonight makes me realize that I need to spend more time each day for this type of silence and relaxation. It’s important to carve some moments out on a daily basis to experience the joys and rejuvenating nature of silence. While on the road, this is something that I honestly just don’t think about enough.

home and stare up at the passing clouds in the sky. I would make believe that the cloud formations were animals, people or other interesting figures/objects. Today as an adult one of my favorite things to do in order to refresh is to sit beside a flowing stream, river or lake. It’s fun to take a trip just a short drive from my home to Asheville/Boone, North Carolina and do just this for the weekend. The smell of the pine trees along with the Mountain Laurel and fresh mountain air breathe life back into me. A few years ago on an ATV trip with my son, we found a unique spot with a spring fed waterfall. The entire hillside is filled with wildflowers. We were hot from our long day’s ride and hopped into the cool water. At that moment all the struggle and challenge of riding this particular washed out expert trail made it worth all the effort.
When I take quiet time to reflect, it’s good not only good for me but my business as well. Being able to detach from the world for just a short time always seems to refresh me and increase my overall well-being.
