Back in 1990, a young man named Matt asked for a wish to ride in an 18 wheeler and talk to his sister on a CB radio. The request was granted as forty trucks and drivers showed up to make Matt’s dream come true. This is what started the efforts to create the Mother’s day Truck Convoy that we know and enjoy today. The Mother’s Day event has been held in Lancaster, PA during the last 26 years. The convoy has grown with almost 400 trucks participating offering over 100 wish children the opportunity to ride along as passengers. Each year the event brings approximately 5,000 people that come out for a fun filled day to see the trucks, play games, attend an auction, enjoy musicians and savor delicious local foods.

In 2003 and 2004 the Convoy set the Guinness World Record for “The World’s Longest Truck Convoy” with 391 trucks participating during those years. In November of 2004, the Netherlands (Europe) beat the record with 416 trucks participating in their event. This year, the Lancaster, PA Convoy will set out to once again aim to bring the world record title back to America by having 417 trucks participate for their May 8, 2016 Mother’s Day Convoy.

The Mother’s Day Convoy is a day to be proud to drive a truck for a living. I have participated in this event for many years now and it’s a highlight in my driving career. Watching wish children have fun with their family and friends on a day that is especially made for them is truly a joy. The entire day is made up of volunteers throughout the community and surrounding areas who give of their time and talents to make the day special. This year “ROAD PRO” will be the presenting sponsor for the event…WAY TO GO ROAD PRO!!!
I am looking forward to another great year with Make A Wish. If you would like to learn more about this event, sign up to participate or donate…please visit their website: philasv.wish.org/convoy.
Here is a great video on the goals for this years convoy ... Going for 500

Remember…Money Raised = Wishes!!!

We were able to attend this event a few years ago and it will bring a tear to your eye and a song to your heart. Seeing the grins on the children's faces and they blow the air horns is something to see! Really a fantastic event.
