This is not a blog on how to do battery maintenance. It is, however, information on how to access the batteries to do said “maintenance.” It was brought to my attention that some drivers/owner-operators were not trained on how to access the battery bank. There are jump-start posts near the starter if needed on the passenger side of the truck, so battery access is not necessary anymore.
When doing battery maintenance, the cables need to be removed, so batteries must be accessed. This short video shows you how to gain that access to the Freightliner Cascadia that has aerodynamic skirts. This does not deal with the cover of the battery bank that may be between the frame rails; if you have them, we do not have those. I have seen them, and it is quite simple to remove the cover.
Till next time, be safe out there.
