We have created a series of blogs talking about why we decided to leave our secure jobs as supervisors with health benefits.  Both of us worked for Morton County, Bob shop foreman of the maintenance department, Linda supervisor of Data Processing and we were soon to become empty nesters.  In this series we discuss how we got our commercial drivers license and what gave us the idea of becoming truck drivers, our start in a tractor-trailer, deciding trucking was not for us and then returning back home to come up with another plan. We will talk about buying our first truck, orientation, our first load, and learning to sleep in a moving vehicle.  Also discussed it how we learned to sleep in a moving vehicle and ideas to not become recluses.

Our first video: Honey lets quit our jobs and become Truck Drivers

Bob Attending his first truck show and he starts thinking about getting out from under the truck and becoming a truck driver

Linda attends her first truck show and Bob pops the questions "What do you think about becoming an over the road truck driver?"

We start planning our future and preparing to leave home at the same time our youngest daughter left for college.

Our next blog starts with putting our crazy plan into place.

Part 2 Bob is off to truck driving school and we stumble in our first attemt to become truck drivers
Part 3 How we stumble and why we did not give up

Linda Caffee

Bob and Linda started their driver careers after their children left home for college in 2000. Bob started as a driver for a large motor carrier with Linda as a rider. They decided to enter the Expedite industry as team drivers in 2005 and purchased their first Freightliner. Both, Bob and Linda have had their Class A licenses since the early 80's starting out driving in the oil field and hauling grain as fill in drivers where Bob worked as a diesel mechanic. Linda worked at the local country courthouse in data processing.
