We need to be reminded of the dangers of inattentive driving. I just learned of a horrible crash that happened a couple of months ago. On Sunday, July 31, 2016 the Pals family was traveling to Colorado from Minnesota to start their final phase of training to become missionaries to Japan. Jamison and Kathryne, both 29, died along with their three children, 3-year-old Ezra; Violet, who was almost 2; and 2-month-old Calvin. A sixth person, Terry Sullivan, 56, in another vehicle died the next day. You can read news stories about the tragedy

According to the Nebraska State Police, a truck driver was inattentive and speeding through a construction zone when he struck the Pals' vehicle at full speed. An entire family was wiped off the face of the earth due to a truck driver who wasn't paying attention to his most important responsibility - driving.
The truck driver was arrested on multiple counts of felony motor vehicle homicide. He will undoubtedly spend many years behind bars haunted by the memory of killing an entire family. Since I heard the story, I think of this family often and their needless deaths. Let this picture be a constant reminder to be attentive at all times.
