Is there a driver shortage? That depends on who you ask. If you ask a driver recruiter, they will say yes. They have trouble getting qualified drivers to fill the seats with current pay packages. If you ask a driver who is waiting for a load, they will tell you no. There is a shortage of loads.

What if you ask an Economist? There is a simple question. If you paid $1,000,000. per year could you get enough drivers? If you can, then there isn't an actual shortage. It comes down to Economics. The numbers say that there is no driver shortage.

Excellent video Jeff. Straight and to the point. There is one reason I sit at a desk for a living rather than driving for a living - MONEY! Dollars talk and I trade my life hours for dollars, not coins. I don't like desk work, but it pays well. Yes there are drivers out there making a good living but I believe there are a lot more drivers that are terribly underpaid and that makes finding a good paying driving job difficult because the folks that have the good paying jobs hold onto them as they should. I still think you should head the FMCSA.
