Count down to the start of day three

The morning began with normal preparations as we left Albuquerque, NM. Our group headed out on I-40 east. The day began with heavy pulls. We drove to Amarillo, TX to the Petro Truck Stop where we ate lunch at the Iron Skillet. After lunch, we continued on I-40 east towards Oklahoma City, OK. We experienced high winds with warnings of severe storms, hail and tornado warnings to our north. Luckily, we were able to get out ahead of the oncoming severe weather. We parked the rigs at ATC Freightliner in Oklahoma City and headed to our hotel for the evening. At days end, my mile per gallon from San Diego to this point had climbed to 9.26. The miles traveled on this day were 534 and 1,336 total miles into the trip.

Tomorrow, I’ll post the results from Day 4
