I wanted to give you an update on the performance of the Cascadia Evolution at the 76,000 mile mark. This truck has been running flawlessly and I’m more than impressed with its performance results. I’m reaching fuel mileage numbers that I couldn’t have imagined just a few years ago. Most of my loads weigh between 20,000 – 30,000 lbs. which has my GVW between 53,000 and 63,000. I’ve had a couple of loads which weighed more than 44,000 lbs. and still managed to attain 8.6 mpg. One of those heavier loads came in at 9.6 mpg.

The lifetime average of the truck is 9.371 and the ECM lifetime fuel mileage average is 9.4 mpg. I find it fascinating that these two numbers are so close to one another.

Below, I’ve listed all 51 fill ups since driving the 2014 Cascadia Evolution. The figures I’m providing are categorized by fuel mileage ranges. All figures are based on calculations using fuel pump numbers and not the ECM data.

7 – 8 MPG (2)

7.746, 7.763

8 – 9 MPG (10)

8.800, 8.456, 8.80, 8.916, 8.761, 8.23, 8.653, 8.862, 8.549, 8.882

9 to 10 MPG (27)

9.209, 9.199, 9.629, 9.007, 9.691, 9.06, 9.103, 9.002, 9.170, 9.086, 9.129, 9.236, 9.510, 9.478, 9.828, 9.068, 9.243, 9.256, 9.462, 9.632, 9.585, 9.396, 9.414, 9.806, 9.708, 9.602, 9.726

10 MPG (13)

In addition to the above figure, my (DEF) Diesel Exhaust Fluid average is 346 mpg

I am amazed at what we are able to do with these Detroit DD15 and DT12 equipped Cascadia Evolutions. You are a testament as to what a truly dedicated pioneer in fuel efficiency can really do with one of these amazing trucks! This makes me anxious to see where my 10,000 mile update figures are in comparison.

Great MPG numbers Jeff ! There really seems to be something to the Evolution package with the newly updated Detroit DD15 and the revolutionary new Detroit DT12 transmission.

Those are very impressive numbers Henry, no matter how you divide the pie! You are definitely a leader, not only in the transportation industry but also in the heavy duty truck engineering industry by providing real world feed back. In fact, all 5 of the pros in this great program are providing valuable information back to Freightliner to aid them in advancing their equipment! Thank you to all of you.

The 8.6 with 44,000 in the box is a big number to consider. The standard has definitel changed. I hauled 42,000 lbs of cotton seed in an "antique" trailer that I bringing up to Green Bay to get turned in. I had 7.7 off the computer and a 7.854 off the pump.
