Time to Head to Dallas

It is time to head to Dallas for the Great American Truck Show. Check out the website at www.truckshow.com .This year the truck parking will be at Fair Park. The address is 3013 S. Haskell Ave. Dallas, TX. It has about 12.8 acres of truck parking. Unfortunately it is about 3 miles from the convention center. Fortunately there will be shuttles running continuously between the truck parking and the convention center during the show. This year TA/Petro will be providing a shower wagon for the truckers. Randall Reilly the show hosts are definitely making an effort to step up parking lot activities.

One note that I will make. If you are bringing a pet, please make absolutely sure to provide for their well being. Hopefully you have an APU and keep your pets cool during the HOT Dallas days. Do everything to ensure their well being. Consider leaving them at home. Sadly, a police dog died at the PGA Tournament in Wisconsin this week when the air conditioning failed.

There will be a big push on health this year. Landstar is sponsoring the health pavilion. There will be vendors there. The Trucking Solutions Group is helping make mammograms available. Speakers will be on stage three throughout the event. I will be speaking at 10:30 Friday morning. The speech will center on the Truckin' Runners Facebook group. But you never know, it could evolve into a campaign speech for FMCSA Chief.

Saturday morning will feature a 5k run/walk with an optional 1.5 mile walk. Thanks to Andy Mount an Right Weigh for sponsoring the event. It will start at 07:00 at Fair Park near the truck parking. A shuttle bus will leave the convention center at 06:00. Hopefully, we will all finish in plenty of time to beat the heat.

Of course Freighliner will be there front and center. This year we will have the Detroit Component Trailer inside our area. The trailer displays the new fully integrated power train package. It features the steer axle, DD15 engine, DT12 transmission, and the rear end gearing and axles that make up the complete drive train. It also has several video screens. It can explain any and all components as well as the Detroit Assurance package. Virtual Technician is also on display inside the trailer. Don't go to the show without seeing the inside of the trailer.
