Outlet Malls

I’m a man. I’m sorry. I can change. If I have to, I guess. That is the man’s prayer as it is prayed at the end of the Red Greene show at the possum lodge. I have learned that as a man I can even shop if I have to. I guess. Yes, I have even discovered outlet malls.

There are several outlet malls that either have truck parking or are near truck parking. The one that I tend to use the most is on I 94 in Pleasant Prairie, WI. There is a rest area at the first/last Wisconsin exit by the Illinois state line. It is a short walk to the outlet mall. Outlet Malls where you can park a truck at the mall are near Wisconsin Dells, WI and just off of I 65 in IN @ exit 76. I am sure that there are more.

I am not a real shopper. I never buy running shoes at these malls. I prefer the small running stores with true personal service. Stores that have runners selling the shoes. But, do like buying running apparel at outlet malls. They aren’t cheap. Quality items usually aren’t. I prefer running shorts that fit loosely and have pockets. It can be hit and miss at outlet malls for selection. Although I never have any trouble buying dri-fit sox at outlet malls. Dri-fit sox prevent blisters. Now, you can even buy dark dri-fit sox at these stores. So, even when I dress up I have cool socks.

I even found a pink carry on bag for my wife at an outlet mall in Ohio. She loved it. We bought it for a special trip. It worked great. It was the max. size for carry ons. It took all the guess work out for us novice flyers. The downside was that I ended up using it too. Men looked at my pink bag and had a good snicker or snide remark at my expense. Of course, I then say that I bought it because my little granddaughter loves pink. That usually gets a little "how cute" from their wives-haha-I win that one.

There are times when we have a short way to go and a long time to get there. That is when I might stop at an outlet mall. It is not easy for us to find a place to stop and get a little shopping done on the road. Especially at places that don’t raise the prices to pay for the expense of keeping truck parking.  What I like is the ability to pick up needed items when I am on the road and not spending precious family time doing it.

Jeff,
That is a good come-back on the pink bag. The Red Greene show was very entertaining. I haven't seen it on TV in several years out here in the west.

Its really nice when you can find places like the outlet malls because it often times gives you a different resturant selection as well.
