Blinkist is an app that I use just about everyday.  I had it recommended to me by a friend who likes to learn new things as I do.  Quite simply, Blinkist contains over 1500 non-fiction books (and growing) in which they have read and summarized the main points into a 10 page overview (called blinks) that can be read in 10-15 minutes.  Basically, you can get the main ideas of a thick, best selling non-fiction book in practically no time.

There is a free version of the app that allows you to read one preselected book per day.  I have the Blinkist Plus version which allows me to read any "blink" from their 1500 book library for $49.99 a year. There is a premium version that provides audio blinks that you can listen to, but I've beenimg satisfied with the Plus version.  I've subscribed to the service for almost two years.

The categories of books that are found on Blinkist include:

  • Psychology
  • Money and Investments
  • Science
  • Marketing and Sales
  • Management and Leadership
  • Biography and History
  • Self Improvement
  • Politics
  • Motivation and Inspiration
  • Technology
  • Economics
  • Entrepreneurship
  • Health and Fitness
  • Productivity and Time Management
  • Relationships and Parenting
  • Communication Skills
  • Corporate Culture

How many times have you been disappointed with the contents of a book after you've spent a lot of money on purchasing it and a lot of time reading it?  It's very disheartening to have invested so much time and money in a book and only pick up a few key points that were deemed useful.  That has happened to me many times before and that's why this app has been very helpful in learning new things and saving a lot of time. It's a must-have tool for practicing the Pareto Principle.
