We have had several German Shepherds during our married life, and I always had at least one German Shepherd growing up.  They were my best friends, and when out riding in the many miles of grassland where I grew up they were my constant companions.  They always shed, but in a larger area, it really was not a problem and less noticeable.

Texas is a two year’s old now and it a constant source of amazement that she is not bald from head to toe.  We carry two vacuums in the truck one that is quick to grab and each morning and evening to remove the hair from the floor and a Shop Vac to get the hair off of the seat cushions.

We purchased her a dog bed to start transitioning her off of the bed and onto the floor at night as the new truck has a little smaller bed than we currently have. Our next thoughts were to get her off of the bench seat cushions to keep the hair from getting ingrained into the fabric.  That was the hardest as she likes to lie on those seats.  When I would tell her no, and she would slowly get into her bed and give me the ugly eye I felt mean.

Then a friend told me about the Shed Defender, and we have started putting this on her a little bit each day.  She had no trouble learning to wear her shoes but the coat she does not care for.  Texas will not chase her ball with the jacket on, but I have hopes in time she will just ignore it.  With the Defender on, she will once again be able to lie on the seat cushions during the day, and that will make her happy. When she goes outside to play the coat will come off.

If you travel with a dog that sheds copious amounts of hair this coat I could consider this coat as it is much better then leaving your pet at home.

It is a win-win, she will get to lay on the bench seats, and I will not always be trying to get the hair out of the fabric.
